im sure the tires played a big part in his shortfall when they filled with mud therefor turning them to slicks onto no6 Range Rover

Not only slicks - but mud slicks! The tread actually still has to be there (tires can't be bald) to get maximum slipability! It holds a layer of mud to the outside of the tire and, in effect, creates a tire made of mud which slips just wonderfully on... mud. Worse than ice. Anyone who's ever experienced it can attest to the fact that the vid is not necessarily fake. M/T's have huge gaps between the tread blocks so as not to hold the mud. Even if they do, kick the throttle and the centrifugal force will generally clear them. Nothing like that with street tires. I know exactly where that was filmed.... Car park at Devils Pit pay n play site. I have also had traction issues there but to be fair was towing a Brian James car trailer.
