Question for the car dealers on here....

Obviously your average car dealer gets vehicles from trade ins or auctions but can you get prestige vehicles (Ferrari, Lamborghini and such like) from auctions? Just curious really as I can't imagine many of these performance cars see a auction house. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, I would think they get auctioned, just like any other cars, but probably not in the same auction. They may be pricey, but so is the servicing. A used dealer may not want an expensive car that requires a lot of very pricey repairs, and will then sit for a while waiting for a customer. Also, high end cars would probably end up with a specialist dealer, not the average used car lot.

Literally everything and anything including classic cars, supercars, 4x4s go through auctions, usually specialist ones but from time to time BCA and Manheim too:-

Thanks for the links and helpful replies. I've looked on bca but not delved deep enough. Just out of curiosity really - wondered what for example a Ferrari 360 / 430 would fetch at auction opposed to the forecourt price.

And dont forget repo auctions as well, you'd be surprised how many were going thru them in the last few years but i think the amount has dropped quite a bit in the last year... FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

My son and I went along to a BCA auction recently and watched the usual old and tired cars sail through, followed by the newer stuff of German origin.

And then, last of all, this... Sold for a decent price, too. Maybe a bit misplaced but amongst the sub-£1,000 spotters, there were buyers with money ready to buy one of these as well. I'm guessing it was unsold or a too-late entry from a previous auction.
