I'm looking to buy a new Range Rover.
I'm more of a petrol guy intsead of diesel but I've had two TDV8's so far and I must say they are really good.
Had no trouble whatsoever and I'm looking to buy a 2011 model.
I was going to go for the new 4.4 TDV8 but the new diesels only come with DPF (Diesel Particle Filter) and I'm reading horror stories about the filter getting packed up when you don't drive long distances for a while.
Has anyone encountered this problem, I didn't have DPF on my TDV8's.
If this is really a problem I might be tempted by the 5L Supercharged which I've testdriven and I must say it is a peach and probably THE best engine for the Range Rover, of couse it takes a bit of fuel.
I'm driving about 25,000 KM/year (about 15,000 miles/year).
Your advice and experience would be welcome!

This has been a huge problem with 2010MY RRSport TDv6 and TDv8 with the DPF, which is an option on UK cars up to this year when it becomes compulsory with 2011MY cars. I believe talking to several dealers that the system has now been modified and the special cleaning cycle that burns out the DPF to clean it now doesn't rely so much on driving at some stupid speed at high RPM for 50kms. I am going to be driving the 2011 4.4 all day on Wednesday next week at a Range Rover special driving day to show off the new engine and will ask then what the procedure is and get back to you 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Could you ask them as well if the back seats fold fully flat when ticking the "rear recline" option?
I've heard that only the backrests fold and not the entire seat when taking the electric rear seat option.

I have the DPF on my RR and if doing lots of urban driving it gets full rather fast...having said that, it doesn't bother me except for the "warning sign" coming up, that's about it. Having the sign up now for over 4 weeks and the other day drove on highway for 3 hours but the sign is still on , the car has to go to the dealer anyway on Wednesday so I will have it checked. Other than that no problem.

Great car, could not imagine driving something else!!!
