Whilst prepping the car for an extended period of non movement, I was checking the rear loadspace 12v socket and can't get any joy from it. Out came the handbook to find which fuse, assuming the rear fuse board, and it points me to either fuse 1 Cigar Lighter/Socket 20amp and/or Fuse 7 Auxilliary Power Socket (loadspace). Fuse ratings in the car are different from the handbook but I check anyway. Both fuses are fine. I then notice that the actual fuse board in the car looks somewhat different to the hand book.

I then notice a graphic of the fuse board underneath the actual board and this matches exactly with the board in terms of rating and the amount of fuses employed. None of the pictures look anything like a cigar lighter.

Anyway, I pulled every fuse from the rear fuse board and every single 1 was good.

Any ideas guys or can anyone point me in the direction of the correct fuse, before I start hitching the C-Tek up to the battery itself.

It's a 2006MY 4.2.

Is the cable connector still attached to the rear socket ?? Regards

I've had a good feel around and everything appears connected.

I was just reading another post on here and it looks pretty easy to take out the socket/light panel so I'll do that in a belt and braces way.

I'm wondering if the handbook doesn't necessarily reflect the actual car. From research I've found that the service message for 10 seconds isn't applicable to the 2006 MY onwards even though the handbook says it should show. Maybe this is the same.

Sorry Pete. My bad. I did quote 96 and it should have been 2006.

Certainly no wine when I first posted.

You could try taking the socket light/panel out and checking you have 12V at the white plug on the back of the socket.
You never know it could be a faulty socket.
Also check to see you have an earth connection.

Just an additional thought.
Have you checked the socket with the ignition on? It could be ignition controlled, some are some aren't.

Turned out the socket wasn't at it's best so thanks niceday.
