Which RR for 16k?

I know little about RRs to be honest, and not a great deal about cars or how to fi them, but I have always loved RRs and have saved up 16K to buy one. I have been looking around and think that a v6 Diesel would be most economical as I have quite a big commute (50 m round trip). I am worried that for that money it will be at best an 04 plate with 50k plus miles. How likely is it that this will break down and what can I imagine the typical repairs to cost me.

Hi there & welcome!

I bought in July a 04 plate Td6 Vogue for considerably less than your budget. It had 97k on the clock but was 1 owner & had FLRSH.

Touch wood, I have had nothing go wrong yet so don't be put off by a high mileage as "modern" cars are built to much better standards than Triumph Spitfires etc where 50k would mean extensive rebuilds!

If you think about it, what is more damaging - a high miler that has spent most of its life cruising in top gear on the motorway or a low miler on the school/Tesco's run doing stop-start and barely warming up?

I got a warranty from Warranty Direct for £400. It was their top notch one but be prepared to haggle as they initially quoted over £900 for one! Shocked Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?
