Knock from somewhere under footwell

Hi folks, I have an annoying knock at slow speeds which seems to be under footwell area. It doesn't do it when driving above 5-10mph, only when turning into roads at slow speeds. Car has just passed MOT and had arms, bushes and balljoints changed to try and fix this issue. MOT tester was made aware of it before MOT took place but even he, using his equipment could not find source (his equipment wobbles steering system). he suspects that there might be some wear inside steering rack which at slow speeds cause the knock but as he could not find anything wrong on MOT gave the car a clean bill of health. Any ideas people? The Best 4x4 by far, so long as you have deep pockets.

As Stan says, could be the exhaust.... or

Check the rear hub bushes, sounds daft but when these knock it sounds like it's coming from the front...

Check it has washers fitted to the front upper anti roll bar links.

Anti roll bar bushes can cause it as well...

You need to take it to someone who knows FF's or it could cost you a fortune.. Pete

Okay thanks for the replies. i will get it on a ramp and look at it. I didn't think of exhaust. I would have thought that if washers were missing the MOT guy would have found this as I had pre warned him of issue? The Best 4x4 by far, so long as you have deep pockets.

Doubt it, they only have them on the top, they are hardened and there so you can tighten them up enough, MOT wouldn't care about that.... or know they should be there.... Pete

Hi guys. I have determined that knock is from steering rack, worn bushes and/or sliders which is why it only happens at slow speed turns. just waiting for time to do it now. thanks for replies. The Best 4x4 by far, so long as you have deep pockets.
