2010 Vogue SE DVD Question

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and have just recently purchased a 2010 Facelifted Vogue SE, which is absolutely superb. Had a late P38 from new in 2001 and been in estates since, now back to RR ownership and loving it. This forum has been extremely helpful in guiding me in my purchase.

My RR has the dual view screen, but doesn't have a DVD player in the boot - so pretty pointless. I had assumed that all facelifted cars with the dual view screen came with DVD as standard?

I would be keen on a retrofit of the player as I often have long journeys with my Son or Wife and having the ability play DVDs on trips through the front screen is very appealing. I have had a quick look but cant see any wiring looms or connectors, so I am guessing my car didn't come with a DVD and retrofit needs a new wiring loom?

Any advice greatly appreciated, I was hoping it would be a Plug N Play exercise and the car was pre-wired........

Thanks,

Tom

Welcome to the madhouse and you guessed right, the DVD player is not standard even if you have the Dual View screen and a button actually saying DVD Sad . I'm in the same position.

I expect that the wiring is installed but you are likely to need a diagnostic systems (IDD or Faultmate or the likes) to switch the DVD player on once it is installed. Hopefully some more knowledgeable forum members can give you more definitive answers on this. EBay is probably the best place to look for DVD players themselves. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Thanks ebajema, that's annoying and goes to show you should never assume when buying anything!

I can pick up the player cheap enough here in the UK, but wont be buying anything until I know how easy it is to retrofit.

Thanks again, Tom

Since I had the RSE in the 4.2 and never used it (installed a second hand DVD player as well as the original was dead) I have gone away from the idea. Tablets seem to be a much better solution for the rear seat and the front seat.

I did play with the dual screen a bit, had my mum watching TV while we were driving (she loved it) but that is about all it got used for Sad.

But if you can get a DVD changer/player cheaply and you want it, it is worth doing the research. Hopefully a forum member can use their diagnostic system to turn on the functionality once you have installed it, unless you want to buy your own system of course. IID seems to be the best choice these days Smile. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Thanks Stan & ebajema,

I thought the TV was analogue and as such will no longer work here in the UK, unless it has a digital tuner on this MY?

Excellent - thanks Stan, will go have a play to see if I can get it working tonight. The DAB is hit and miss so expect this is why I couldn't get the TV working initially.

Thanks all - much appreciated.

Hi Tom, it can be done but a task not to be taken lightly Shocked

I carried out the factory RSE system retrofit to my wife's D3 a few years ago and the same "logic" should apply to the FFRR. Read through the following posts and my full write up and draw your own conclusions Rolling Eyes

http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic47680.html

Your car will not have the necessary wiring loom and they are only available from Land Rover as a complete loom at four figure sums Shocked

Would I tackle it again? Nope, which is why my 2010MY FFRR came with RSE Wink

I can make the changes to the CCF for you to switch on the DVD touch screen buttons but without the wiring at this stage there would seem little point.

My car is being part exchanged tomorrow for SWMBO's new D4 HSE Luxury so I will be leaving the fold albeit temporarily and as a result my Faultmate MSV-2 with multi-vehicle licence will be up for sale soon too Whistle

Thanks Andy,

Think I will leave the DVD then! I don't have anywhere near enough patience or desire to attempt that. It is just the front DVD I was looking to liven up, but I suspect the loom is still very much required. I still am unable to get the TV working, but this is whilst sat on my driveway and I read somewhere that it needs to be driven out a bit to get DVB.

Some pics:

The boot comms area with no DVD Sad

TV with no signal

Sat Nav works very well though

Interestingly I noted that the TORX bolts that hold the TV module in have wear, so that unit has been out at some point. A replacement unit is not too pricey on eBay so not the end of the world.

Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated Mr. Green

Hi Tom,

I completely understand, its not for the faint hearted Laughing

As for your TV tuner it should be a Digital Tuner they were a standard fit from a few years before the 2010MY, if yours is not then you have be turned over as it would never have been analogue Shocked

Check the settings in case it is set to the wrong region or PAL and try searching for channels again. If that doesn't work check the part number of the tuner. Thumbs Up

The TV works! Whilst out yesterday morning my Son piped up "Daddy, CBeebies!" Obviously I cant see it but its clear as day for him in the passenger seat. Clearly just doesn't work from my driveway. He watched it all the way to Nursery - happy days.
