Gearbox rebuild advice..

Guys, having my box rebuilt on my Td6 and wanted to know when they swap the box out does 100% of the oil get changed or will some of the old oil be in the system ?

Also they said that a new oil cooler isn't included but they flush the current one through etc, is this acceptable and what other Qs should I ask before they do the work?

Have read a few good reviews online about the company and they state they do around 1 per week so common and keep the rebuilt boxes on the shelf (don't know if that's a good or bad thing getting a totally different box) they quoted me £1800 +vat for the work to be done,

hi mate, never used the company, but my experience.

Get them to fit a new oil cooler (at least) i had cooler and oil lines replaced. Ok it cost a few (read about 350) extra, but it should avoid any additional time off the road, inconvenience, further coolant / gearbox oil change etc.

as far as i know the box is completely stripped down and all the internals measured fro tolerances so your box should have fresh oil in.

are you having the TC done too?

as a matter of interest, who are you using? 2003 Range Rover Vogue 4.4 on Gas
