Replacing Battery on a 2011 TDV8 4.4 - is this a DIY job?

I have just replaced my 06 TD6 with a 2011 TDV8. Great car so far and I had the AV system powered up for a few minutes whilst programming radio stations when the battery monitoring system shut the AV down with a warning to start the engine. I became suspicious and checked the battery voltage after a run, and after standing over night, so the only battery load had been to unlock the doors. The voltage read 12.33v, and from what I have read on here, it should be 12.6v, so I am suspecting that the battery needs replacing. With the engine running the voltage is 14.4v, so the alternator seems good.
It is a Land Rover branded VARTA battery, and the date on the negative pole is 07/11. Given that the car was first registered in 04/11, it looks like this was a warranty replacement, or perhaps the AGM replacement from the Tech Bulletin. So after 4 years of service, I guess it's time is up.
Now I have replaced batteries a few times on the TD6, but this looks more of a challenge due to the tight fit, (see pic). There is a black metal bracket which I think would need to come off, but it is secured by a couple of bolts with a wierd recess for which I don't have a tool. Also, from reading TOPIX, it would appear that after replacement, the battery monitor module needs to be reset using diagnostics. So I have come to the conclusion that this a job for my RR specialist garage, unless anyone here knows different?

Am not sure on the bracket, though others will be I am sure. My only comment is after a 3rd exchange on a battery on my TDV8 I'd be inclined to give the 'highly awarded' Bosch S5 battery a wide berth. I haven't been very impressed with my replacement to the point where I have a note on my receipt to say if this one fails I want a different brand altogether. Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

i dont think that 12.3 volts is a bad result...it doesnt have to be exactly 12.6 volts..

the AV shutdown is common on your year afaik [might be wrong] so if its all starting ok then dont worry about it ... ... - .- -.

You don' t need reset. For extract the battery only pull the ECU with the hands.

Thanks Guys
I am off on holiday today and did't want to return to a flat battery. I took the car to my local Halfords Autocentre. They sold me a Halfords brand 019 AGM battery with 4 year warranty for £175, and charged another £10 for fitting. I thought that was pretty good, as the mechanic took an hour to fit it and carry out diagnostics.

I just got a 2012 and have a similar set up to the picture above. I got a new battery with it but would like to know how to do it myself next time. Has anyone actually done the change themselves? It looks much tighter than the fit on the 2007 with lots more gubbins attached around it.

The Halfrauds website says that something electronic has to be reset when changing the battery. What's that all about? Question I've just got the IID tool for my vehicle. Can that do it? 2012 5.0L S/C

I've been quite impressed with Yuasa which is what I replaced my Bosch S5 with. Like you I wasn't too impressed by it, certainly not the ~£80 premium it commands. Ed

I think Stan is correct. Even with the new battery fitted, the Audio system shuts down after a few minutes on battery power. This must be a "feature" of this model. 2011 Vogue TDV8 4.4

Halfords are doing Yuasa batteries now. 019 100ah.

No good if you have an agm battery though.

Most of the latter models have an over aggressive battery management system which shuts stuff down a the drop of a hat when it senses a larger than expected power drain! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I'm currently looking at a new battery also.
A Varta G14.
My car keeps popping up with random short lived faults. Suspension, Park brake, Coolant level and the DVD stacker in the back was playing then one day later saying Mecha issue.
The sunroof has lost it's limits and I'm taking it to Webasto which is 5 mins from my house to get it reset.
When I start the car it sometimes starts with the previous A/C settings e.g OFF. And most times when I start it the A/C is on both in the front and rear.
Sometimes when i turn on the car and not the motor i can turn on the radio and other times it wont let me.
The battery in mine is as far as i can tell from service records 2.5 yrs old.
But it has just spent a few months at a car yard being driven randomly.
I just measured the battery voltage now and the car was last driven 12 hrs ago and it's 12.3v. 12 hrs ago it was 12.6V
I'll check it again in another 12 hrs and see if it falls lower.
My car is a 2010 TDV8 Luxury and has had the battery recall done on it 2.5 yrs ago and there's no outstanding service recalls on it.
I'm getting an iiD tool for it in the next few days and will read the fault codes and then clear them.
I'm also thinking of disconnecting the battery and shorting the cables to clear the memory.
The guys at my local Battery World reckon the car has to have something reset to tell the car to change the way the alternator charges the new battery as the computer learns charging cycles from the battery????
Is that true?

Ok something very strange is going on.
There was smoke coming out from under the bonnet when I pulled up at home tonight.
Would I assume this is the alternator??
What voltage should the alternator read and at what point???
I measured at the battery whilst the car was running and it was 13.9v
