Looking into getting one of these pick ups , Navara , Toyota , type sort of thing doesnt have to be a brand new model as it will be getting used for Diy in properties carrying the usual junk , ladders tools and such , just wondered if anyone on here has used them in the past or present and could throw any pointers on them ... Looking for something with also a bit of comfort not just a van tho

In my oppinion a van is far better. Better security, better fuel economy etc. I have a transit custom sport. Black leather with white stitching. Dab radio. Auto lights wipers etc. heated seats. 160hp the list goes on. Then just pull a trailer with it.

I had a Navara Tekna which was very nice to drive but it wasn't used as to carry anything as I only had the canvas type cover on. My mate has one now and he loves it and he throws all sorts in the back as he has a cab on. Some of the other guys had Toyotas but I didn't like the drive in them at all. |

I suppose really it depends on what you want to use it for, with a trailer you may have a problem as to where to put it when not in use if space is tight with a pick up you can get loose materials dropped straight on the back and with a van it's better security wise I reckon |

I looked at one for a while for a potential trip in Southern Africa and my choice would be the Amarok. Almost every test I read it came out really well with the most comfortable driving experience of them all. The Ford Ranger seemed to be second, the rest (HiLux does really well on reliability and all but not too well on comfort, looks and interior "pleasantness"). Thanks for the replies , I don't want to go down the route of a van as there wouldn't be a great deal of tools and stuff to carry , it would really only be getting used to do a bit of DIY on a couple of properties I am thinking of buying and general tidying up of ones I already have , plus I would probably still need the use of the 5 seats for the odd school run .... |

Went into a Mitsi dealer yesterday and the parts man was proudly telling me about there “ALL NEW” L200 he was in MIRA driving this week, pointing to one in the carpark... I suggested they had a very lazy design team! “As it looked almost the same as the model it replaces!” |

Yeah, VW has a naming team that is probably wearing anoraks all the time. Anyone interested in a toe rag as a premium SUV ???? Or a phetus ???? MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!

Anorak = No. Bloke next door has one and it looks hideous. Seems like VW scoured the parts bin and cobbled it together. Leaf springs at the back? |

The gardener has one of those Amorak's and I am not too keen on them .... Been looking at Navara's and Hilux's and Ford Rangers ,,,, but still have plenty of time to decide |

Not saying they are a bad thing , somehow they just don't appeal to me but as I say the guy that does the gardens round our way he is quite taken on with it |
