Which 911 ??

Have wanted to get a 911 since I was a youngster and now seriously looking.......

Budget is limited to £25k. Would be nice to get the next 911 model that is likely to push up in value too, whichever model that may be??

1) Unfortunately the iconic 80's 911's seem to have taken off on value and left me behind. Really fancied a 1987 ish 911SC. Any 911 SC/Carerra, around this era would be ok but 87 onwards got the preferred G50 gearbox. A few soft tops around but really want a hardtop. Most of the hardtops are starting way above this.

2) Would also go for a 964. Not everyones cup of tea but thing they are a really big future classic. Again, values are moving fast on these and not sure £25k would buy one anymore.

3) Not interested in a 996, but the 997's are a nice looking car. Would go for a 4s in an ideal world but happy with an S or 2S. Would only consider a 3.8 with a manual box. Seem to be a few around for £20-25k. Future classic?? May be one day but think they still need to go down before they go up.??

Any advice appreciated !!

If it is going to be a keeper, I would go for the best 997 you can find, in a similar position myself at the moment. Early 80s have gone, IMHO the 964 is just too ugly and not heard good things about the 996.

I believe the 928 is worth a look but then again its not a 911 !

Just my tuppence worth Thumbs Up

I tend to agree about the 964 but could just about accept its looks, just think it could be the next one to boom in value??

A friend had a 996 and I was unimpressed by it. Very plasticky inside, didn't like the auto and I just don't like the 996 front headlamps. I think they realised they'd made a mistake hence why the 997 is far prettier and a better bet.

Another friend is another reason I'm so keen to get one. He has the white 911 that Chris Evans bought Billie Piper when they were together, in white obviously. Evans searched high & low for a 911 and this was a very good example he bought. After their split it was sold by BP. My friend picked it up for £16k not that long ago. He has been made many offers, the most recent being £45k but he has no intention of selling. Lovely car and sounds great!!

Sadly the 80's models have set sail leaving my budget to find a pukka 997 I think.

Look at these as a 964 vs. 997 example , if its a long term car then its a no brainer IMO

997s seem great value at the moment, 993s have risen though but there are some around at mid high 20s though they may be rough. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Agree @Rosco - Those 2 links say it all really. You could have 2 997's for the price of that 964 and tbh I prefer the 997.
Thats helped make my mind up. Interiors are a big plus on a 997 too.
Is the 964 for sale yours Rosco? Noticed the Ebay id...... Whistle

Would plan to buy a keeper, 10 years or so if the right car. Hopefully in that time it 'may' also become a bit of an investment?
