Steering wheel alignement

Gents,

I was wondering... When I let go of my steering wheel whilst driving the fatty drives straight ahead. However when I look at the position of my steering wheel whilst driving straight it is off-centre.

I checked:
Tyre pressure. All ok...
Tyre wear. Nothing unusual.

So I was wondering, Can I just take off the steering wheel and center it to align it to my wheels or is this a bad idea? 2002 L322 V8

has your steering wheel been removed in the past?

theres a youtube vid by powerfuluk showing how to do it.

The steering wheel alignment should be centred when the steering alignment is carried out sir. If its off centre, it could be pointing to a worn out component, a badly setup alignment or as stated maybe as simple as the wheel was removed and put back on incorrectly!

I personally would have the joints checked and an alignment carried out first to at least save the tyres from prematurely wearing if it is out Thumbs Up

If you've never had it done get a proper 4 wheel computer alignment done, it's more expensive than a normal 'tracking adjustment' but it's well worth it, given our cars thirst for fuel and the cost of tyres.

I have no idea if the steering wheel has been removed in the past. I own the car since six months.... Given your advise I think I should do a wheel alignment. I'll post the results in this topic.

Thanks all! 2002 L322 V8
