Td6 gear box oil level

Good evening can any one tell me the best way of checking this when you have no means of checking oil temp ie take it for a ten min drive then check or just leave it tick over for five minuets ect

If it is from cold, ticking over for five minutes will not get it up to required temperature. A ten minute run would be better. John

But if the oil is too warm, the level will also be incorrect
