Bought a project vehicle. Bedford MJ 4x4.

Well - long story short, I have just bought an ex-military Bedford MJ 4 tonne truck, it is the radio version and comes with all the kit you can see in the pics, radio shack on the rear, large Generator under the black cover and 3 x antenna masts.

My plan is to get all the kit off the back so it is a bog-standard flat bed, put it through a truck MOT and then get it all repainted in desert camo.

I have no experience of anything like this kind of vehicle and wondered if any forum members had driven one of these in their military days and if there are any good forums for this vehicle.

Some pics of the truck.

Darren

Good work. Guy Ritchie bought one of these and had a log cabin built on the back. It is used on his estate as a shoot bus. There is a log burning stove and a barrel of beer in the back.

I'm with E Mong. The box at the back would make a great camper.
Fun, enjoy. I'll never get cut off in traffic with that until the perp has lost the will to live.

Thank you gents. I spent the weekend taking off the telescopic masts and the Generator and these will shortly be listed on ebay - I have decided to follow your advice and keep the box on the back and fit it out.

Also plan to add power steering too!

Really like the basic feel to the truck - loads of character and it even has a sunroof! Well a hatch in the roof where you pop out and fire your weapon Smile
