I read somewhere from land Rovers' own website that they check each alloy wheel produced by x ray to detect cracks or flaws in the casting process. Not too sure if that is still the case. Or if the wheels you bought are Genuine parts or aftermarket. With 22's there is a lot less tyre wall between the rim and the tarmac. This will inevitably transfer shock loads from potholes or bumps into the rim and i imagine more severely, leading to increased risk of damage. I'm no expert.BTW Tony

That's a shame about them being fakes........would also explain the cracks. Those in the Ebay link are fakes.

You would have to do some research or wait for an expert (as I am not) but I THINK the later (2014 on) RRS had a 22" wheel option. |

Please correct me if I'm wrong but from memory only late L322 wheels came with Range Rover written on a spoke and these two wheels styles only came in 20" Subsequently the new Sport and Full Fat has wheels in 20",21" and 22" but none has Range Rover written on them .

I've got a set of 22" on mine and had a different set previously. Both were an aftermarket set - the first set cracked so I tried to go with a large a spoke or biggest number of spokes the second time hoping these would flex less and not crack. It didn't work - one has a tiny hair line crack on the inside rim. Most eBay sets are for sale for the same reason and repairing them only buys some time until they will crack again.

I had the same issue on an Audi a few years ago. It came with 'original' Audi 20" wheels but on the drive home (400miles) the TPMS alerted us to a soft tyre. We duly stopped and refilled with air but within a few miles the TPMS was triggered again. Turns out that wheel had a crack. Further inspection once the car had been recovered home showed that 3 of the 4 wheels were or had been cracked and re-welded and then covered up with a powder coat. Turns out the entire set were knock offs. I complained quite hard (understatement) and they agreed to supply the correct original OEM wheels for the car. So, clearly there is an issue with these copies not only being very hard to tell apart but also that they're terrible quality and you are very much getting what you pay for.
