My brother had it done about 4 years ago now, starting to wear off as his eyes relax again, my mum had cataracts in both eyes and had them removed, an upside is that she can now see perfectly as the operation is technically the same thing. She had worn glasses since she was 12, she now 70 and had it done last year. She can't believe the difference as now she doesn't need glasses.

No complaints tho.

On a same subject but different route I was talking to a guy that had his eye lenses replaced. They sucked out the old and squished back in a new pair. He had to have a lot of planning etc, and he got it done for £3500 as he 'shopped around' he says it's great. He said it the new modern method.
Hopefully when I get mine done it will have become more popular.
The things they can do these days eh.

Supposedly it doesn't work well for age related degeneration in your sight, only if you have always needed glasses..

Apparently they will say it works, and it will in the short term but as you age it goes again, a bit like having to get stronger glasses every few years... Pete

I know two people who have had it done, and both say it was the best thing they've done no issues a few years down the line. Being a contact wearer myself it's tempting but at the same time the thought of a laser and eyes clamped open frighten me some what!

Nearly had it done 3 yr ago faulted at the last fence when the doc said he only had one crack at it because i had thin lenses. He also said improved far sight would mean reading glasses for close work! Seemed like a lot of risk for very little gain,my advice is get a decent set of silouettes frameless and you don't know you are wearing glasses.

Cheers guys.

Food for thought. I have an astigmatism in one eye, so only needed glasses for close up stuff up to now, but since starting back in construction ( house building) I'm out on site 50% of the time, and have to wear them to look at issues and they've fallen off a few times when bending under scaffolds etc.. Deffo don't want glasses chains like dame Edna but need to do something. GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus

The Mrs had it done in 2002. Been fine since, no glasses, no reading issues. But she does complain of night driving being more difficult now. Apparently that is one of the possible side effects.

I had both eyes done 5 years ago and they were fine for a year or so but gradually they regressed back to the point where I now wear glasses more often than I did before...so IMO its a waste of money . If you want permanent results then go for lens replacement a friend had them done around the same time as myself and although it cost £2k more he still has better than 20/20 vision and has no need for any type of glasses. If you're brave enough then that would probably be the way to go Thumbs Up The forums premier drug dealer and human trafficking consultant

You only have one set of eyes. Unless your vision is really poor I wouldn't bother.......

That is from the biased son of an optician who has been wearing glasses for 20 years, I could have it done but won't! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Daughter and son both had laser surgery a few years ago, both now wearing her specs for reading, seems it's not a permanent fix

Think I've gone off the idea...seems that if you get it done, it's not likely to last Rolling Eyes GONE 2010 Facelifted 3.6 TDV8 - Stornoway Grey + 22" Overfinch Olympus
