I am currently considering moving up from my 4.2SC to a newer 2010my Autobiography. Probably second-hand with a bit of the depreciation hit taken.

Sorry. Not for me. Looks a bit too drug dealer for my liking. That one would get that character form the "Fast Show" going. "Black, black, black!!!" Also I promised myself I'd never have another black car after my current sports car. Nightmare to keep clean. Tempted by a Stornaway car. Last edited by Emperor Mong on 3rd Oct 2010 8:13pm. I'm tempted but it will be another year before they are second hand prices. Maybe I should just wait. |

Yeah, I used to think like that but I have finally converted to one of the log burners. Main reason is towing the tintent causes the battery on my pacemaker to go flat very quickly. This FFRR is my 1st diseasal but I really love 2 things about it. 1. 600 miles between fill ups. 2. Torque when towing. Not so much different over a S/C but massively improved over my old 4.4 Disco (sans S/C) But you're right. Nasty smelly, greasy which gets everywhere. All over the pump handles, all over the floor round the pump (which then gets on your shoes) and I used to avoid all this by using a "Petrol Only" pump when I ran petrols. Mind you, a rather amusing thing happened a long time ago. You need to picture it. I've just returned from living and working in the USA where I ran a Disco 2 V8 very happily. So we decided to come back to the UK for various reasons and I sent the wife home 6 weeks before me so I could pack up the house etc. Her list of things to do were 1. Rent us a house 2. Buy me a car. 3. Get the kids enrolled in school. She called me in the US - "Buy a car? What on earth do I buy?" Oh, get a Disco V8 I responded which she duly did. A nice black ES one. So I get home early one saturday morning and she collected me from Heathrow in the D2. I drove us home which included a fuel stop at Toddington services on the M1. So I stand filling it up. Click. Pump handle docked and I looked at the display. £63. At this point I had a real Tourettes moment right in the middle of the forecourt much to the wife's embarrasment. Almost hopping with disbelief I was noted as crying in a very anguished tone, "Sixty three F***ing quid. !!!!! That's a hundred F***ing bucks!!!" (I used to fill the D2 in the US for about $28 ) Most of the other drivers filling up started looking at their shoes etc. Wife hissing at me to shut up. Me almost apoplectic at the price of "gas". Still ran it for 2 years though So, if you don't tow, the 5.0 S/C, definitely the S/C. There's something about the smell of petrol and the whine of a supercharger. Smells like Victory. If you do tow, the 4.4 TDV8 makes much more sense. I don't care much about the price of fuel nowadays but 8 or 9 MPG would cause more Tourettes moments I fear. Just my 2p. It's your cash. Sounds like that could be a plan. Well, the bit about waiting a year rather than buying you and me new ones. |

I don't need another car with over 450bhp. But then many of the things I want I don't actually NEED. |

If your driving is almost all in town I would go for the S/C - the benefits of diesel economy only work when you do long runs and they are not there in stop start driving - take a look at the fuel consumption posts recently where people with diesels are reporting 14-18mpg in London driving. Diesels might be nice for economy but if you are sitting in city traffic the vibes and rattle (I know they are very well damped and muted but they are still there, I have a TDV8!) are not there in the 5.0V8 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

The diesel But if you drive only mainly city, don't take it. Problems with blasting free the filter will drive you mad. Test drove the 5 liter. Fantastic but most useless engine in such a car. It belongs in a Jag. And if yes get a extra tank bulid in. Daniel
