Diesel Additive

Gents,

After some advice please - Diesel quality here is awful and not consistent so want to do a little preventative maintenance. I'm in UK soon and want to stock up on Diesel additives so would like advice on which one is the best to use and if anyone has advice on best place to get it at a good price?

Search on here has shown either Redex or BG244 being mentioned but would like a definitive answer from knowledgeable chaps on here.

Thanks! MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

Hi

Have always used BG244 in all my diesel cars every six months or so. Every 2nd tankful I always put in some 2 stroke as recommended in the Disco3 forum - not sure if it makes any difference to performance, mpg etc nut it's certainly not done any harm !!

Thanks zoso.

Does BG244 work like Redex, etc where you just pour it in same as fuel (but before filling up)? MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"

Not sure how effective they are. I used the BG44 (Petrol) version and it didn't seem to make any difference. However, plenty of good reports on BG244 which is the diesel variant. Have a read round this site and make your own mind up. I suspect yuo are more wanting a fuel conditioner/stabiliser than a fuel system cleaner though.

Can you carry diesel additive on the plane?

I'll be in the same boat as Shalz soon.

Cheers, Jerry

I bought some BG244 and added it to ever tankful when I had a Diesel because I read on here that as I bought all my fuel from Tesco I needed to. I managed to convince myself that it ran a bit smoother but I'm not really sure it did Very Happy Geoff

It may not remove all existing deposits but it will help keep it cleaner going forward. A bit like using Shell V+ all the time....

Thanks all for feedback and mxplcg for that helpful link

after going through that site, i am thinking instead of BG244 I might:

1. First tank use with Archoil AR6400 Diesel Cleaner - http://www.powerenhancer.co.uk/product.php...oncentrate

2. Further fuel ups, regular use of Archoil AR6300 Fuel Modification Complex http://www.powerenhancer.co.uk/product.php...n-complex-

These seem to get good reviews on a number sites but would be grateful if anyone on here has any views on this and used them in the past?

Road Stone - I may have a way to get it delivered to Kenya at a relatively low cost - if you visit here regularly or have a way of getting it to you from Nairobi, we can think about combining the shipment and splitting the cost? PM me if you are interested. MY11 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - "African Queen"
