Was watching something very similar a week or so ago - I don't know the name of the village / town but there is a section where they're up against the limiter with houses either side Shocked

yes, its a very odd thing the TT, in today's world of over-safety. track designs and race science.
I used to watch and think these guys were idiots, but when you hear them interviewed, and we get to see the background of riders like Guy Martin, they are quite normal! I fear for them, and as such wish them long happy lives.
in a similar type of real road racing, rallying speeds are insane, but these TT speeds are ridiculous, and you could end up with a dead rider coming through your toilet window anytime.

You're right. The bit I think is funny / scary is the attitude of some of the spectators who stand in their gardens (or those of friends etc), on the outside of corners and taking videos on their phones whilst protected only by a wooden picket fence Shocked

It'll be a sad day if and when it is stopped - although some officials believe one incident involving a few spectators is all it will take to end it.

Scary indeed

I watched a very interesting documentary last year about the Joey Dunlop - I didn't really know much about road racing before that, but what these guys get up to is incredible.

I don't know if you heard the Chris Evans interview on Radio 2 yesterday with some guy who rides there (dunno who) he was saying some parts of the surface are so rough you end up with blurred vision for a few seconds (at that speed!!). He also said that on one part of the course with the blurred vision the only marker he has for knowing when to turn is a single tree which is yellow in a row of green trees. Stupidity, bravery and entertaining in equal measure.

Long may they continue. 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

yes i did too, its called 'Road' on itv player. its very good. what a bunch of 'die' hards they are. there is some tragedy in it...

some people cannot ever stop the thrill of fast riding.

always amazes me when circuit riders fall, slide and tumble, and as soon as they are standing up, have a sort of elastic effect to run back to their bike and pick it up again, before even checking they still have use of both arms!

I agree they are bonkers but feel I out to point out that the superbikes are nothing like shop bikes. They are based on them but my understanding is they'll be heavily tuned by people. The superstock on the other hand are showroom bikes just without lights and potentially redesigned fairings. Ed

Slightly, the documentaries surrounding last year explained they do cater for the TT when doing road improvements but it does come second. Over the mountain for example I think they put a bit of sand into the paint to give them a bit of extra grip. Ed
