Small scratch

Hi everyone

Annoyingly I have scratched the other car about 2 inches long, looks like it broken the laquer but not the paint.... What do we reckon would be the best plan? Touch up with a laquer touch up stick or professional fix.....

Thanks for your advice !

depending how good you are with a small modelling brush you could touch it in yourself.

But one of the many SMART repair people would probably only charge £60 or something to do it, and they'd probably touch in any small stone chips you might have too.

For the sake of circa £60 and given that you want it right for potential purchaser's I'd get it done properly Thumbs Up

Im sorry guys but smart repairs are a bodge and from my experience are always noticeable and degrade VERY quickly!!! A trick used by dodgy car dealers to cheaply repair damage before sales! The vast majority discolour or fall off within six months!

Do it properly or pay twice Andy Rolling Eyes

/\

I have used smart repairs in the past for minor scuffs, etc on cars that I have then kept over a reasonable period, and never encountered the problems you refer to Confused

Maybe its down to the quality of the person doing the job and using the right equipment and materials.

Exactly, it's only the same as getting it done at a body shop, for a small scratch they're going to use the same technique unless you specifically ask them to respray the entire panel and blend it into the surrounding panels.

You can get poor quality work done in a body shop just the same as you can get poor quality smart repairs. I mean how many times do you see cars running around with faded bumpers or doors, where they've clearly had a poor quality accident repair done, chances are they've been done by a body shop.
