Stunned by the dealer quote for this - Manifold rocker assem

Does anybody know where I might a decent breakers or parts dealer to get the following?:
RH manifold / cam cover assembly
Gasket for above
Injector fitting kit x4
Spill rail O ring x4

TDV8 Vogue '57

I've been quoted a grand plus vat for parts and fitting. Shocked, to say the least. They say I can probably get away without replacing the last 2 items, but I'm advised it would be prudent to change these out at the same time. They're also saying the engine needs dropping in order to do this. Am I being told the truth?

If you look at the picture at the top of page within that is the advert ( usually) for Dan at duckworth parts. Get your parts quote from him, and you at least have a definitive price for parts, however my advice to you, is that you need to research and call in to a couple of independent, or Land Rover mechanics, to get a quote to get the job done. Not a showroom with suits, pretty ladies and coffee machine, Rolling Eyes
I can't comment on the job, but the main dealers do jobs how the book tells them. It's perfectly possible that the engine does not have to come down etc. do you have an explanation of what these parts are trying to repair etc? And maybe some pictures?

I have just replaced both rocker gaskets and it's a pig.
the fuel filter housing pipes, the injector piping the injector loom, the injectors all have to be removed.
the injector closest to bulkhead needs the top off,26mm spanner.its an arse.
If I was doing it again I would recommend dropping the motor.
In that way you could replace both gaskets and check turbos etc.
Why are you replacing inlet manifolds.
Having said all that,it is incredibly satisfiying to have no oil leaks from the engine.at times it felt pretty frustrating though.
Next job the trans oil and filter.
