Talking to a screen fitter a few months ago while he was fitting the van screen and asked if he had done any FF screens and he said if you need one you must insist on a genuine Range rover as they will give you a cheaper alternative which can have problems with rain sensors/screen heater etc. |

it's probably just an after market variation on the heater elements. Doesn't look like the put the wiper arms back on it the right place either. Does the drivers one wipe the right hand edge of the screen properly? |

The replacement one fitted on my old td6 was the same , the heating and rain sensor worked fine. |

This is the same as the one admiral windscreen replacement fitted to my car a couple of years ago, when I asked for gen/Pilkington they said they will not replace cars over 1 year old with genuine windscreens/parts unless you pay the ridiculous difference in price, they wanted an additional £700 off me for a genuine LR on top of the £75 excess. The only difference I have noticed is the white zig zags and that the heating element doesn't go all way to the edge in the glass.

We are having a new screen fitted later this month by Autoglass, speaking to the insurance company (Churchill - ohhh yes), they have assured us it will be a genuine pilkington screen and will only cost the £75 excess which has been paid. That's on a 2003 car. |

This is what my insurance company said to me also, really not happy with it. I guess i will have to try and find a way to cover it up |

I don't suppose you can blame them, but i thought you had the right to choose your own repairer?

Even if the screen is a Pilkington one doesn't ensure it will be genuine. I insisted that I had a new screen from a Land Rover dealer, its still make by Pilkington but has the LR mark too and is 100% correct.

I'm sure my insurer (Tesco) have a clause which states that you only pay the excess if you use "their choice of replacement". if you insist on the OEM screen, they only pay a max amount (which is nowhere near the cost). Hmmmm, sounds a bit like FIFA and their backhanders methinks! |

Just looked at our screen on the inside and it has 3 horizontal wires embedded into the screen, not as obvious as that though |
