Long time since my last post, but I continue to lurk and enjoy this brilliant website. I've decided the time is right to finally retire my faithful old '56 plate Td6. It's just coming up to 160k miles now (130k of which are mine) and I've enjoyed every one of them (well, most of them anyway!). By and large my Rangie has been as reliable as you could wish for - right up until the moment the gear box decided to commit suicide a couple of months ago. However, I can forgive that, considering it had got to 158k before it did so - I've heard many a tale of woe about boxes disintegrating on less than half that mileage!
On this basis, I've managed to convince both myself and SWMBO that investment in another one is a perfectly sound decision - particularly as LR now offers a 2 yr warranty. Consequently I'm now in the hunt for a 4.4 TdV8 - preferably an Autobiography (well, why not?), although a well spec'd Westminster might be ok. I recently missed out on what looked like a very nice AB model from a main dealer, but I didn't get a deposit down quickly enough - Range Rovers seem to sell themselves these days, which is just as well considering how cr*p most of the sales guys are!
So my wish list is a black/grey/blue AB with Ivory interior. Probably going to be on an 11 to 12 plate, with as low miles as possible and circa £40k. If I get 100k miles out of it without too many major headaches I'll think I'll have done alright.
Will report on my progress...
