2010 5.0 SC Exhaust

Hi,

Just wondering what your thoughts are on upgrading the exhaust on a 5.0 SC. It sounds ok but I think it lacks the V8 burble at idle.
Here in Abu Dhabi, big V8's are common. Some sound awesome, some gone too far Shocked

Has anyone replaced their standard system?

Cheers

Geoff

IMHO, the exhaust system on the 5.0 works very well. If you want "louder" I guess you could remove baffles or upgrade but I don't think a FFRR was meant to sound like a street racer. It's kind of a subtle beast. I have had the opportunity on a few occasions to put my foot into it when coming off the light with a mustang or Camaro next to me and have seen the look on the drivers faces......in my rear view mirror...

I head a Range Rover Classic with the exhausts removed once, that had a fairly vicious bark when you started it. Laughing

I think it would get pretty bothersome after a few hours though.

OK OK guys, enough off topic....

To the OP,

I looked into this for mine, there are very few companies that do aftermarket and they all look damned awful, and cost about £3k with the obligatory 4 potato shooters out the back, slightly inboard of the nice current polished tips.

The 5.0 L322 is designed to be smoother and quieter than the 5.0 Sport, but I know from listening to mine being driven by someone else that it sounds gorgeous, very smooth, and when it's stabbed, makes a lovely noise.

IMO, just keep it stock, it looks better and you won't have to worry about expensive replacements. Discovery 4 HSE

For starters I agree with Adam.

However, each to their own so another suggestion for the OP. How about a switchable bypass valve? I seem to remember someone on the forum working on that a while ago. That way you can have the best of both worlds, burble when you want it and quiet when youneed to (coming home late at night after a beerwith the lads turned into staying out a bit latish 😊) MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
