What's the general consensus on the optimum wheel size for the L405 in terms of ride and looks? Does the 22 inch compromise ride comfort and does it make the RR less versitile when it comes to mounting the odd Kerb, for example? Are 21 inch the best compromise?

I like the look of the 22 inch Style 707 but they seem a bit steep at an extra £3k, that will add little to the resale value. MY23 D350 HSE

I do go off road and 22" would look ridiculous and get damaged. You can kerb the 21" quite easily (don't ask how I know). The 22" would be difficult.

I noticed the deterioration in ride when I tried a 22" shod car too. Slight but noticeable, I thought.

Resale it will make no difference unless you take them off and flog the on eBay.

22s look very nice especially Style 6, but of course 20 or 21 will be a bit more comfortable.

22s will certainly help the resale as they add to the look but may not drastically add value per se.

Ive not noticed any real difference in ride comfort between 20, 21 or 22". Air suspension sorts that out.

Theres still a fair bit of meat on the 22"s as LR upped the rolling radius from the old L322. My votes on 22" for on road due to the improved handling. Obviously for hardcore off roading they wont be the best but for snow and average muddy/ wet grassy fields the 22s are just fine '14.5 SDV8 Nara Bronze for sale

I have both 22 & 20 for my car, and I would say that the 22's are significantly harsher and sharper handling on the road and there is definitely significantly more road noise (there is a note to that effect in the LR sales literature I think). But the harshness is not unacceptable just when compared to the others. The 20's are quieter and more comfortable and my preference. However, my lane is like a washboard potholed test track at the moment and despite the bangs and crashes the 22's show no sign of suffering. I, as many know, use my car for everything. Mounting the kerb using the 22's is a matter of 'gently does it' and preferably at a 45 degree approach rather than climbing with the sidewall.

Next time 21's will be the compromise for me.

I've got the 22" which are shod with 275/40/22 Continentals - comparing to my 255/55/19s on my L322 I feel the ride is slightly harder (as is usually the case with the low profiles) but was expecting it as there is so much less side wall to help absorb the bumps. On smooth roads I notice the difference less , but as already stated, they do add to the look of the car with the right colour combination. Steve

I've just finished putting 707's onto mine - it came with 20's & swapped them over this morning.

They look significantly better - I've not been out for a drive yet though......

I'm thinking of a set like EM's for winter - but the fact that Trommel likes them puts me off
