looks lovely,

but,

it looks like all that expense on a 10my conversion hasn't done that much for its value Rolling Eyes

mind you at 64K whats that worth - high £20's???

perhaps I stand corrected

Cool

I thought I read somewhere that you get clobbered on the insurance if you own a earlier Range Rover with a 2010MY conversion - is this correct?

Tis true - basically you are modifying the car to be something it wasn't meant to be and in the insurance industry eyes something more steal-able I suppose. I suppose if you went to a kit car specialist broker you might get it cheaper Whistle Whistle I only pay £290pa for my real 2010MY through LR Insurance........................ 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

I think it would depend on insurers, I'm sure they don;t have a tick box for 2010 upgrades when they quote, and that some insurers would quote ridiculous amounts to put off modified car owners.

I've facelifted an impreza in the past with no premium increase, but that was a specialist who dealt with modifications. I don't think the average call centre monkey at the big insurers is going to be much use.

Technically our old P38 years ago was "facelifted" as it had the clear light kit fitted Very Happy

That's what i find strange , upgrade a 06 say to 2010 mdl Back & Front lights , back and front bumper maximum cost say £4k and £5k extra insurance , Yet when i spoke to my insurance company about how much extra i would have to pay to add a £9k Overfinch bodykit i was told an extra £1200 ........... Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes weird

I just asked a mate about this in insurance. He said it had very little to do with nickability, it's all to do with driver/crash stats and probability of claim.

Generally the type of people to modify cars are petrolheads that want to draw attention and this also comes with a culture of driving style ultimately leading to more claims. Not saying for a moment that any of you good folks are in that category, but it's overall stats to the insurers. The computers don't lie.

Unfortunately this is irrespective of what type of kit is added, so you're being grouped in with the boy racers in corsas with ridiculous bodykits.

Best to do as Avi says and go to specialist independant broker, talk direct and get them to hunt around for you.

Only what I've been told...
