Glovebox

One thing i've noticed with my 2004 car is when you push the glove box release button the box just freefalls until it hits the stops.

Is it supposed to have some sort of damping mech on it so it lowers gracefully?

Mine freefalls all the way down and empties the contents on to the floor as the catch doesn't 'catch' anymore... Big Cry 2012 5.0L S/C
