A good write up by GraemeC on the wiki for a more economical solution...

Thinking about attempting this myself. Confused Life is what happens while youre making other plans.

If you have an aux in connection - then the solution above should be seriously considered.

That's basically what I had before fitting the official kit - which is disappointing to say the least.

+ve
Steering wheel controls
Auto play - when you start the car
So basically you can leave the iPod in the glove box

-ve
It only supports the first 5 playlists - and even then you can't see the name
Cost something like £500
iPod hangs occasionally & needs a re-boot

It basically mimics the CD changer - so only supports the first 5 playlists which use the CD 1-5 selector - CD6 plays from the entire iPod

I wish I'd saved my money

i run my cable from aux in rear with a right angle aux plug then drilled a hole in the plastic under the flap so you can still close the cover Wink then run cable under the cubby box, made a small hole in cubby box bottom for aux lead then put ipod/iphone in there with power feed from cubby box lighter so all hidden, the only down is channel change but it sounds good and its not a stupendous 500 quid, the mrs is usually next to me so she's in charge of music and we both like rock or 80's so ideal Thumbs Up _____________________________________________________

Right. I was really hoping for an intravee like experience with full track selection , its a pity that they didnt keep the bmw nav to the tdv8, or develop a better kit ha. Do dice/ dension make a cheaper kit that does the same thing then , if i cant have full control , displaying track names on the screen and using the steering wheel controls to go next/previous track would be the next best thing .

It displays track and artist - you can't select though IIRC - only skip through a playlist

The irony is Dension make the kit for Land Rover but it uses proprietary software and copyright stps them selling their own version .
try this

Interesting that they claim "full display" and yet all I see is a CD track number? Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue
