SWMBO declared that she had never been to the IOM and wanted to go. Now she's fussy about all things (except me), I've booked the Range Rover on the Car Ferry but as yet haven't booked a hotel as they all seem to look like glorified B&Bs which would get me into trouble. She likes a bit of luxury anyone got any ideas? Geoff |

I've only ever stayed in Douglas and the Sefton (rooms overlooking atrium 4th floor are good), the Claremont or smaller and perhaps more boutique the Regency. All similar in terms of quality. I don't think they have secure parking so it's maybe outside on front but IoM is safe enough. It is a bit 1950s in places but that is part of the charm of the Island. Portofino, 14 North and Tanrogans are all restaurants as well. All walking distance if in town. Artisan is a good bar to relax in as well. |

I was talking to the proprieter of a Hotel near Silverstone this week as I had booked through Booking.com and had to change the date, but could not cancel it on the web site and was about to be charged £50 cancellation fee.

Thanks guys, all we need is somewhere to sleep and the business (any business) is not paying so it would seem the Sefton has the best prices.

If you do, make sure you get a place on the TT route with a parking space, spare room and a good vantage point to watch the race.
