Trying to remove offside headlight to replace wiper motor

Hello all.
I'm trying to remove the offside headlight on my 2002 to replace the headlight wiper motor. The rear headlight bolt is seized, photo attached.

Any tips on how to remove this bolt ? Can the air cleaner assembly be removed easily to give better access ?

Thanks
David

Thanks for the information.
I'm struggling to remove the housing from the air-inlet that comes through the wing. I don't know how to "release the clip" as the diagram instructs....shown below. Do I pries apart, twist or squeeze ?

http://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/albums/us...CT0510.JPG

Also, on one website I've found, it tells of the importance of a silicone O ring between the air mas sensor and the air filter housing....mine hasn't got an O ring....should there be one to seal the end of the air mas sensor as shown below...

If only manufacturers used stainless fixings in high corrosion areas........

Cheers

Hi Stan. Yes I've seen that and used it to replace the glass on my nearside light but this time I'm looking at the offside headlight and as it states in the video, the offside is much harder...especially when the difficult to get at bolt is seized.....joy !

If you turn it hard enough it should break the much weaker bolt fixing below. Simple replace with another suitable nut and bolt. Support the plastic mounting point though otherwise this may snap off. See here http://www.fullfatrr.com/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=466 .

Thanks for everyone's advice. After soaking in penetrating fluid overnight, the bolt came out with the use of a 1/4 inch socket set with seemed to grip the bolt (8mm head) much better than my 1/2 inch socket set.
So I didn't have to remove the air filter housing.....thankfully.
The next problem was the fact that the two screws which hold to the headlight wiper motor to the plastic housing were also fairly well seized but again after soaking the front and back in penetrating fluid and a couple of hefty taps with a hammer on the end of a well fitting screw driver, they came out.
Then I found the the motor could not be removed due to the motor sitting lower than a metal lip immediately behind it....joy !
I ended up undoing the outside bolt that holds the plastic housing to which the motor is screwed (again using the 1/4 inch socket set as nothing else was small enough) and pivoting the plastic housing upwards which allowed the knackered motor to be withdrawn and the new motor installed.
To enable me to be able to replace the outside housing bolt, I removed some of the plastic of the housing that obscures the bolt hole. This photo shows the plastic housing bolted back in place with the area that I cut out clearly visible.

Re-assembly wasn't too difficult, my hands were small enough to secure the clips on the air-filter housing lid without the need to use tools.

Now I have two working headlight wipers.......next job is to fix the rattle on the passenger door

Was in that area the other day to remove headlight. The same bolt that gave you trouble snapped clean off as soon as I put my socket on it and attempted to turn it. A lot quicker than soaking with penetrating oil !

As long as you've got some of the captive nuts to replace it....
I actually lost the captive nut part as it was pushed of the plastic when I slid the headlight back in but I had some in a draw left over from dismantling a ford a few years ago for a kit car I was building......it pays to keep everything just in case it comes in useful. http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/images/smiles/icon_razz.gif
I replaced the bolts and washers with stainless ones and used calcium based grease which is very water resistant so I shouldn't have a problem if I need to remove them in the future.....fingers crossed
