i think it's FINALLY an adapter for those few cars like mine, MY05 pre facelift, but equipped with the MOST fibre optic loom and touchscreen nav.

I'm also guessing it should easy to fit. i'm a ability-deficient when it comes to modding.

Outside of the iPOD, i suspect this is opens up access to the infotainment loom for a number of devices which had previously only been available to the wired models.

I looked into this subject alot and was told that the Denison Gatewat specifically did not work for a MOST fitted FFRR. 2008 MY Supercharged

The Dension unit will not work - but the OEM Land Rover Audio Connectivity Module will (and it is made by Dension). The difference between the post- and pre-facelift models is that the loom was extended to behind the glovebox post facelift so connecting only requires removal of the glovebox. Pre facelift models require the removal of the upper dash pad to access the loom at the back of the screen (actually not too terrible a job).

I have been told this a couple of times now but have never had a definitive answer from some one who has actualy fitted a unit behind the Dash top.
Isn't it ironic that the MOST system was developed to make conecting additional units to a media setup easier and the Land Rover is different to all the others ,bloody typical. 2008 MY Supercharged

Ive always wondered why the connectivity module only worked from model 07 onwards, leaving the 05 and 06 models with no definite way to install it. However, i read somewhere that the is a slight diff with the installation process and that it would work. I could not locate that thread though. 06 FFRR HSE

So Steve, you're saying that pre and post facelift cars, despite having the same MOST fibre, have slightly different ways to reach the 'loom' ? i'm double checking because people often confuse the "in between" models.

do you have any more info on the OEM part ??

I have the LR unit in my 07 FFRR, and I know that my iphone keeps updating evrytime I connect to itunes, but it is just so annoyingly inconsistent. Sometimes it pairs and plays great, other times it does not charge, asks me for a pin for the phone, and will not play the music, it just sits there and buzzes ???!!! No body told me there would be days like these

The idea that MOST was developed to make connecting additional media units easier is incorrect; most was simply developed to make transporting large amounts of data over an in-vehicle network less expensive and more reliable. From http://www.telos.de/most/ :

The difference in the installation process is that the upper dash pad needs to be removed because the loom was not extended to behind the glove box till 07 as LR only commissioned the development of the ACM around the time of the launch of the 05 model. I really don't understand why LR don't offer the ACM for 05-06, though, as removing the upper dash is not too daunting a task. If you ask me, the hardest part of the job are removing the L&R dash vents and the upper speaker grill (which is often stuck tight with the adhesive from the dampening pad underneath). All in all it only adds about 20mins to the job on disassembly and 10mins on assy (although I have had practice ). The Nav/ICE itself is basically the same from 05-09.

I seem to remember a thread on RR.net with an installation on a pre 06...

First: you have to differentiate. The ACM is just audio and 'pairing' is for bluetooth=only phone. Bluetooth functionality should not have anything to do with ipod functionality. Each problem needs to be addressed individually. For the bluetooth functionality to work well, you need the latest FW update on the module (bluetooth module - not ACM).
Second: going by the symptoms you describe, it sounds to me like you have a bad iphone connector - though you may well have a bad module. Charging is a hardware only issue - Apple just adds various resistors across the connector lines to identify the connecting device - and if it charges sometimes and sometimes doesn't, you have a loose connection somewhere.
Third: itunes always asks if it should be updated or if you wish to update the iphone. For pete's sake - just click 'NO' if everything is working properly. I may be overly careful with this as I have only jailbroken apple devices and can't update till there is a new jailbreak, but I learned long ago not to be an early adopter of sw updates. I wait till I hear that there are no major bugs and then update if I see a need.
