First is the vacuum reservoir for the turbocharger solenoid valve boost control

Second, IIRC, is a breather for the fuel filter/fuel delivery system (for the gearbox - nods to 47P2 Smile ) .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

that may explain why its been a bit flat then Smile

I now have a pipe from the vacuum reservoir for the turbocharger solenoid valve boost control ( thanks Joe Thumbs Up )
going to the actuator, as I found it hanging down is this correct as it looks like there is one coming of the EGR as well.

should the end of the breather for the fuel filter/fuel delivery system be connected to something at the other end ?

thanks Paul

Just been out to have a look!

Can't help on the vacuum reservoir side of things, seem to be three pipes (braided) going into it, one goes to the solenoid valve, the other two disappear down the side of the engine!

Filter thing also nothing to do with fuel filter, that also disappears to back of the engine, but it is a breather of some kind. No, it does not have anything connected to the other end. .

Second is a breather for the gearbox and it is only meant to have a pipe on one side, so don't go connecting it to anything else Thumbs Up

just taken the car out for a run , what a difference !!!!

lost the diesel rattle and the power is much smother, sure this is down to the pipe being reattached rather than cleaning the turbo

@47p2

thanks for that info , I can now stop looking at it every time I look under the bonnet Laughing

just found this

The boost control solenoid valve is located in the RH side of the engine compartment and is attached to the RH inner
wing, below the vacuum reservoir. The solenoid valve is identical in its construction to the EGR modulator.
The boost control solenoid valve is used by the ECM to control the Variable Nozzle Turbine (VNT) within the
turbocharger unit. The solenoid valve receives a battery voltage via the main relay in the E-box. The ECM controls
the ground for the solenoid.
The ground for the solenoid is controlled using PWM. The ECM controls the duty cycle of the PWM ground to
determine the amount of vacuum supplied to the VNT. The VNT improves turbine boost pressure by varying the gas
flow of the turbine. This is controlled by a vacuum actuator located on the turbo, which moves a rod which in turn
changes the angle of the guide vanes.
If the boost control solenoid valve fails, the vanes remain in the fully open position. In the event of solenoid valve
failure, the following symptom will be observed:
l The engine will produce less torque at lower engine speeds.
