Does the L405 have start / stop technology? And if it does do you like it? |

Why do you dislike it? Seems a good idea to me. |

I had it on a renault clio hire car recently I did'nt like it as I could not get on with it, but I would guess that it is quite slick on a big engined car?

SDV8 engines do not have start stop and won't in the future. From what I understand, the engine will be phased out soon. |

The 3.0 TDV6 is the engine that is selling the best and also has the best emissions. The 4.4 is being phased out completely as it cannot meet emissions targets and therefore will not have start/stop technology at all. If you have nothing nice to say,say nothing at all. |

A big negative on both the TDV6 and HEV is the lack of adaptive dynamics though. Will miss it. |

Not a range rover but our audi has it. Don't even notice it, make no difference. With a manual the car has to be in neutral for it to stop, so as soon as you press the clutch the car starts, its stopped on its top stroke so the slightest flick of starter gets it going again.

Indeed. Dealer mentioned MY15 - clearly no point when it dies as Euro 6 applies (just like the VW V8 in the Cayenne).

Any idea what's coming next? Or will the V8 diesel be done once and for all?

The V8 will be no more. LR are hoping SDV8 customers will go for the more pricey HEV as if offers the 'same' performance, albeit delivered in a different way. I still don't believe the hybrids are tried and tested enough in this application. |
