The wading depth is to the bottom of the side intake so you were only at half wading depth at offroad height and up to the side steps!! I used to keep a garden cane with an elastic band at the 70cm wading depth in my Defender until I had the snorkel (and it is a waterproof one, not a raised intake that I have) now I worry more about drowning the battery and driver............................. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes |

The wading depth is in the dimensions section of the handbook, I had my last one up to the base of the intake and it didn't leak a drop of water into the interior, unlike my Defender where I get wet shoes every time it rains!
