When people buy a reg plate, in order to re-space the letters, they will eventually attract attention, as its automatic on the ANPR system, the police can just ignore the alarm, but its such an easy nick for them. its another stat satisfied, and its a good chance, to look deeper at your car, and the driver, and passengers. Yes there are less cops on roads nowdays. but the ANPR is the extra eyes.
Yes, its a fact, that if you are stopped after being nicked for the same reg plate infringment, its reported to the DVLA, and they can and do, de-register the number from you. so your investment, is lost. google this, as its true. 1st offence might be just a two week 'get it sorted' ticket, or a £100 fine, next is much worse.

Even, if your plate does not contain the postcode or dealer address and the british standard code in right lower corner, is in cotravention. but this is not seen by ANPR.
There are some normal police out there, and some nasty type etc.
Stan and Scott, watch your back,
-keep 'em peeled, as the late Shaw Taylor used to say.

I went into Morrisons in Cribbs Causway a few weeks ago and there were a bunch of bikers come in to fuel up... I was supprised to see the screen behind the cashier read every numberplate without fault Shocked There were miss spaced ones, italic ones, tiny ones and even filthy ones (obviously sprayed with carpet glue to hold the dirt!) Was gobsmacked how technology has obviously moved forward with ANPR since the early Police, Camera, Action days back in the 90's Whistle

ANPR won't alert for a mis-spaced plate. You'd also probably be really unlucky to get pulled unless it can't be auto read (dodgy placement of screws to make it look different or putting letters too close together).

If they report to DVLA more than once you lose the rights to the plate, ie DVLA take it back. My Previous RR's!
