Who can identify this part please

Good evening, I was rummaging around under the fatty this evening doing pre mot checks ready for tomorrow, I had been warned by a Land Rover inspection when I purchased it that the rear brake pipes were rusty, and blimey they are bad.
While I was under there I found these behind the rear wheel arches

What the hell are they ?? I had a look at the manual and did a quick search on here and nothing found.

Come on clever people what are they ?? And what do they do or control ?? If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Superb info, that makes perfect sense, thanks everyone. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.
