(P) light - query / binnacle reset [SOLVED]

Hi All,

How long is the (P) light supposed to stay on after the car has been shut down? I have a feeling my resetting binnacle may be caused by the car never going to sleep properly Sad

Just in case anyone else has the same issues :

Park car up for longer than a few hours - binnacle display resets to 'blank' - i.e. Range etc not chosen. Fuel gauge goes up to level, then steps back to empty - then back to level - like some sort of reset/self test. Sometimes get the main beam light come on and then go off.

Battery is a month old, 110Ah.

What's wierd (!) is that I can happily run the FBH for 30 minutes and start the vehicle Whistle Land Rover Addict

Right ... as no-one offered up a solution I took it on myself to start removing things.

I've sorted the issue and you will not believe the solution ....

ODB port cover removed - issue stops.
ODB port cover replaced - issue arises.

Bluetooth snub Diagnostic apadapter plugged in - issue stops.

So it would appear I have a faulty ODB cover?! I've no idea what it's been shorting Sad Land Rover Addict

Hi Stan - not sure how it could (if it was simply not there), I think my faulty one HAS been causing battery drain (I even bought a new battery).

So essentially I'm no worse off with it off or on - apart from the car actually remembering my selections, not 'rebooting' itself and cycling all the dials! Land Rover Addict

It does indeed, three of them. However none of my other LR's have contacts in the cover. Seems a little odd as the reality is the ODB connector is a standard item ...... Land Rover Addict
