gripe about the heated windshield

Why the heck didn't they put like 2-3" of heating element at the bottom where the wipers lay so they melt the ice/snow off the wiper blade. What good is it a heated windshield when you cant wipe off a large section b/c the wiper doesn't touch.

well what the heck!? how do you turn it on? Is it a separate option from the heated windshield/heated winshield button?

I do notice when looking at the windshield from inside the Range, I have a thick black band at the bottom and i figured this would/might be a heated portion but my blades never defrost. And actually...I think they sit a fraction of an inch above that black portion

do I have to squirt the windshield once to turn the heater on? How long does it stay on?

mine definitely don't turn on b/c my 1 hour drive to work this morning my wipers were frozen up...and its 20* here. However I used my heated windshield to thaw it this morning...only takes like 2-3 minutes to thaw it enough to get the frozen stuff loose.

Usually export vehicles are higher spec than home market so I would suggest it is there but not functioning.
