Battery Drain issues!

Had a look at a neighbours 04 TD6 RR the other day, the battery intermittantly goes flat overnight.

Hooked a meter up to it, and its drawing 3.6Amps consistently, ocassionaly dropping to 1Amp for a second then back up to 3.6A. When it does drop, the power LED on the Sat Nav disc drive flashes and goes off, in time with the amp draw changing, and with it unplugged, it still only draws 1A, so presume the Drive is faulty.

However, I thought 1A is still a fairly big draw, I seem to remember it should only be about 0.02A

Going to have a better look at it over the weekend and start disabling systems and see what what happens. Just wondering if there is any other common problems with systems staying 'active'

And also, does it need a new disc drive to cure it not switching off?

Is the car left in access height or normal? I have always been told that lowering to access height puts all the electrics to a sleep mode, leaving it in normal when locked up is like putting your tv into standby - it looks like it's shutdown but infect it's ready to go immediately. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

Am I doing something wrong then?

Ours gets left for 3 weeks at a time without use and never had a problem. Have never bothered with access height at all.
Just leave suspension to do.. what it does automatically.

I was told the same by my dealer.
If leaving it for any time drop it to access height.

i think if you have a strong battery then you should be ok [for a while] but if the battery is starting to show its age then any thing like this will cause it problems... ... - .- -.
