L405 Leather Quality - Disappointing

Collected my 15.5MY SDV8 Autobiography today. Beautiful car.

However, the leather quality feels a massive step down from the L322. There is heavy graining in places which wasn't visible on my L322. The driver's seat cushion is ridiculously creased and the rear seat cushion has the puddling in the corners I've seen discussed on the RRS forum...

Anybody else got issues with the leather quality?

Monaco 2011 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 V8 Nara Bronze

I had my L405 for almost one year and thought it was of good quality...(MY'13).

Currently driving the L322 again but waiting for the new engines in the L405.

Any chance to see some pictures? Corris grey must be a good one...

Thanks,

JJ

I'd have said the quality was the same as my 2010 Autobiography. But I am not an expert.

Here you go. Vehicle had covered 20 miles at POD. I'll pop some proper ones up of the car in a while.

Driver's seat

Rear seat

Poor embossing

I have just inspected mine & notice that I have a long crease, like yours, on the side of the drivers seat but can only assume that this is caused by getting in & out on mine. With yours being as new as it is it can't be caused by that. I do not have any of the puddling in the corners of the rear seats.

I can honestly say, I don't think my leather is overly grainy, in fact quite the contrary. The top of the dash in my previous 12MY l322 was terrible.

On another note, what do you think of the upgraded sound system?

I'm conscious I need to break in the sound system for it to be at its optimum. However, to date, it is much better than the L322 but listening experience is better in the rear than the front IMO.

Try moving the fader to the rear by about one third, it should improve the sound to the front significantly

Thanks for the tip!

The 10.2" RSE is so much better than before.

First thing I thought was that the leather was not of the same quality as my 2010 S/C AB. It felt more slippery and harder. I suspect it may be harder wearing though. The 2010 leather did not wear well at all and I only did 10K miles in mine and did not slide off/onto the seat.

My leather is not poorly fit like in your images.

How's your embossing 5.0? The 'graphy' on mine is less indented than the 'autobio'

Dealer/service has had my 2015 RR ATB for the last 13 days (rattle problem that can't be located) so I can't check the leather in mine at the moment, but I don't remember any obvious issues. I have the Cirrus colour.

I was supposed to have the leather treated/protected, but haven't had the RR in my garage long enough to get it done. I noticed that the upper driver side door does get dirty pretty quickly with the light Cirrus colour. 2015 RR ATB (Scotia Grey w/Cirrus-Ebony)

It looks even on mine.

I double checked mine last night.

No puddling on the seats.

Crease on the side of the driver and passenger bolster (but, as mentioned, probably sliding off the seat is to blame - thinking about electric side steps)

The Autobiography embossing is similar. A bit half-arsed (I didn't like it). Might see if I can get it embroidered.

Would much prefer plain leather than either.

The bagginess/puddling really irritates me, but even the very best retrims sometimes still have a little - I wonder if it's a consequence of the leather still (just about) being a not entirely-uniform natural product.

Why? The 5.0 Supercharged is already the best engine you can get in a Range Rover!
