Hi. 2006 td6. Love it but yesterday the Trans failsafe mode popped up on the dash, the car started driving strangely and a few mins later gave up all drive. 5 mins break, restart, all ok for about 500m, then repeat the whole process.
Ended up on a Green Flag flatbed and back at base now. Any thoughts on the next step? I fear the worst, so hit me with it? Car had over the last few weeks developed a very subtle and occasional judder upon light load acceleration.

Yep, sounds similar to when my box gave up the ghost. When it first lost all drive it did recover for a few days, but then died again at a junction on the way home, recovered again then was able to coast onto my drive at home when the whole thing just locked up. Had to be dragged onto a flatbed to take to stealers for a recon box. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember
