New Windscreen Fitted - Auto Wiper Problem

I was unlucky enough to require a new windscreen yesterday after a cement truck threw a stone my way.

Now it's fitted, my auto wipers won't work. I've checked the fault with the IID Tool and it says 'Adaption To Windscreen Not Working' under the Rain Sensor entry in ECU.

Could someone please explain what needs to be done? Have they fitted the wrong windscreen? It's heated, but not a stamped LR item. National Windscreens did the job abd they've also fluffed up the side fittings as there's a hell of a lot of wind noise.

They're coming back tomorrow morning to, hopefully, sort the noise issue, but I'd like to get the wiper issue understood in case I need to call them again. Si. <This is my name.

I eat rat poison.

Si,

Additional to Stan's post:
When we bought ours (and to this day) the front windscreen is branded Pilkington (as are the rest of the RR windows) but the windscreen does not have the LR brand stamp whereas the other windows do. The auto wipers have always worked perfectly well though.

It must have been a replacement screen before our purchase and I suspect by an insurance company approved firm for reasons that include the lack of LR stamp and the fact that the decorative internal front screen pillar airbag covers don't quite look perfectly sighted (slight bulge under them). No wind noise though!

You can insist on a LR branded screen if it's an insurance related claim although they might charge a slight premium for that privilege, eg £175 for a Q7 screen IIRC.

Thumbs Up

Thanks gents. Thumbs Up

I'll go with 'incorrectly fitted sensor' for now until the windscreen chap looks at things tomorrow.

Can only go from there. Si. <This is my name.

Who is the glass manufacturer? If NW did the job, it might be Nordglass? If so, I've seen this before. Genuine parts - with a LR motive - are the best available.

Only if it's in the terms and conditions.

Possibly, Craig. I really don't know.

No idea of the glass manufacturer. I'll check in the morning.

The chap did the change in heavy rain and gusting wind. Bit silly really. He assured me everything worked, but it wasn't until earlier that it rained.

What with the wipers and wind noise, I'm less than impressed. Si. <This is my name.

Glued it on 3 times now Banging Head

Todays the first day I've driven it in the rain and "voila" perfect Thumbs Up

Not a problem. It's somewhat reassuring to know I'm in good company. Thumbs Up Si. <This is my name.

My rain sensor had been siliconed on to the screen by autoglass, what have you stuck yours on with Craig ?? If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.
