REAR PERSPEX LENS COVER - AVAILABLITY AS A SPARE PART

I noticed on Sunday afternoon that somebody seems to have bashed my rear perspex lens cover with something sharp and pointed that has created a hole with the piece of perspex inside the perspex lens cover. My vehicle is LHD but I say this only so you know what side I am referring to when I say my nearside rear perspex lens cover is damaged. Is it possible to buy this lens cover separately and I assume, unclip the broken one and replace it with the new one or do I have to buy an entire new rear light fitting? I had a quick look on ebay and noticed that they cost around £160. Ideally, I hope that the perspex outer lens cover unclips from the light unit.

Grateful to know the price of the item and its part number too if it is available separately.

Regards,

Steve

It's stuck to the unit and I suspect not available separately. John

Unfortunately, as Weegie says above, the Perspex lens cover doesn't come apart. You will have to get the whole light unit and replace the lot, despite there being only a hole in the cover.

When I got my FFRR 3 years ago, some scrote had done the same thing and put a hole in the lens cover, it's a favourite trick of some scumbags to smack the Perspex with a sharp rock or a toffee hammer to put a hole in it (rendering the whole unit u/s).

Keep checking on ebay (I got a replacement second hand unit for £100) or try contacting Cam-Tech Craig (a forum sponsor on here) as he does facelifts on the FFRR's and might have old light units available for sale. Thumbs Up

in the meantime i would fill the hole with clear silicone if it's small, or stick a piece of clear plastic (from some old food packaging or something) over the hole with clear silicone if it's a bit bigger.

At least that will keep the water out until you can source a replacement.

OK, that is what I feared. Just in case it was a stone, I think I will invest in some light protectors.

What colour top half, Amber, red or clear? I still have my old ones from before I fitted my 2010 ones if you wanted a replacement? 2003 4.4 Adriatic Blue FF

Well I've just come to the rescue of a bride and groom and took their bridesmaids to church after their car broke down. On the way back, I park the car in the hotel car park and reversed into a low concrete post, punching a hole into the lens. Parking sensors didn't pick it up till it was too late!

That's what happens when you help someone out!

So if anyone has a cheap spare, let me know. 2010 MY Vogue SE TDV8 3.6 Stornoway Grey- fully loaded
