2010 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

Great holiday although my mountain bike and Stand Up Paddle board never got used for the week as it was too windy - even the wind and kitesurfers were struggling to hold on at times, otherwise the weather was fantastic. Fuel consumption took a big hit and I never got it above 21mpg while on the island due to the narrow single track roads meaning never getting above 40mph and the gearbox never getting above 4th gear. Took the car off onto machair and into sandunes but never went onto the beaches.

This is Gott Bay - it was a busy day as there were 7 people and 2 dogs total on the beach!

Kite and wind surefers in action at Crossapol Beach - all the easy access beaches on the island are this beautiful fine white sand

The lighthouse centre at Hynish and looking north up the east coast of the island - it was from here that Alan Stevenson oversaw the construction of Skerryvore Lighthouse and today the building have been converyed into some splendid rental cottages by the Hebridean Trust

Fantastic looking at the sea from land locked Switzerland. I am lucky to overlook a lake, but there's nothing like the sea.

Thanks for posting, really appreciated. I must say, my Swiss friends who've visited Scotland always go back.

You have no sea Kurt but at least you see the sun for most or all of the summer. Tiree where I was is a tiny island off the west coast and the highest bump is 48m so it is one of the sunniest places in the UK, it's also one of the windiest. 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes
