If LR deemed a nut necessary it should still be there.

If you can't find it then just replace with an equivalent standard nut. You need a nut on there because from memory it secures the suspension leg (it might be an extra point though), you don't necessarily need a neg post terminal which is just there to aid jump starting. |

Looking at a photo it's an extra point purely for the negative which is not structural, you don't necessarily need it as it's only there for jump starting. Whack a couple of ordinary nuts on there.

if it comes to it i doubt the original nut will cost a lot to buy from a dealer. |

I know Land-Rover UK, while they do rip you off on most things, small fixings like nuts bolts and clips aren't normally very expensive.
