-clicking' from steering column area when turning slowly

not all the time, but occasionally I'll be driving slowly on close to full lock (multi-storey car parks etc) and there a definite 'clicking' from the steering column area, it doesn't sound like plastic touching on plastic, or anything fouling, its more like perhaps a relay switching, but loud enough to hear easily. not all the time, but when it does happen, its a bit of a worry

Any ideas what it could be?

Are you turning the column at the time or holding the wheel still sir?

Thanks guys

CTC, both really (I think), its only even when i'm turning round the levels in a car park, sometimes the steering wheel isnt moving (but its turned, wheels at an angle) but mostly when im turning it to go around corners.

I read Stans link to the other thread, you say its a common repair you do, is it a big job/expensive?
