Body coloured door mirrors

My door handles are pretty shabby on my 2007 vogue so I have ordered some Buckingham blue paint and am going to sand them, prime them and spray them body coloured! Think this will look better than the black and couldn't find any of the merc paint colour in the wiki door handles refurb post.

Whist I am at it I thought I would do the door mirror caps and having searched I can't seem to find any posts on this so have a couple of questions. First, to make the car look authentic do you spray half or all the mirror cover? Those stick on parts seem to cover the top and bottom half, but the pics I have seen of standard ffrr's show just the top half painted, so I am a bit confused.

Secondly, to make life easier does anyone know how to remove the plastic mirror covers on a 2007 spec. Seem to recall a post stating they just clipped off and then someone saying they didn't.

Thanks in advance

Thanks Stan I'd seen the door handles one but not the mirrors. Didn't come up when I searched! Will be following he steps for the door handles but using body coloured paint instead so hopefully they will come up nice!

Think I will do the tops and keep it stock looking. The only thing I can't seem to fathom out is how to get the covers off the car as they are different to the earlier ones! I'm sure it will be something simple like a screw but don't want to go ripping the thing apart!

Mirror covers do NOT come off sir. Hence why JLR sold covers (full or half) in paintable or chrome material to glue on over the top Thumbs Up

Secondly, the door handles do NOT paint well, fine if your happy to paint them over and over again! But a right PITA! The plastic handles have a high wax content, meaning paint will NOT adhere well to them and will always chip etc... You can however buy covers from people like powerfuluk ltd...

Hope that helps Thumbs Up

I saw the powerful UK ones and was tempted. From reading the wiki door handle refurbishment post I was assuming that any paint would work as long as I prepared the surface right! Oh well might give them a paint and see how long they last now I've ordered it! Ordered some glinting for the seats so hopefully that will work out ok and inside will be pristine!
