Something a bit different... Citroen C6

We had another addition to the fleet this week as well. I've had one of these before and quite enjoyed driving it so when this one was in the right place at the right time I thought I'd have another. Quite impressed with it to be honest Smile It's a car that you're fairly unlikely to park next to another one.

The last one I had was a 2.7 V6 HDi, the same engine as in the RRS and Disco 2 but in a twin turbo version. This one unfortunately is only a 2.2 HDi Twin Turbo so it's noisier and not as smooth but once on the motorway it's not to bad. It's the first 4 pot I've owned in years!!

Just wish I'd remembered to take the towing eye off it before taking the pictures! Had to tow it up the road in the snow the other night.

Nice Thumbs Up I do like the look of the big Citroen's. Is that on the hydro suspension ?

It is indeed Smile

The ride on it is superbly soft, and when switched to "Sport" it cuts out the comfort bit so it handles surprisingly well for such a barge! 2002 4.6 Vogue SE - Alveston Red with Lightstone Leather

I LOVE THAT!!! Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
It really looks like a modern update of the legendary Citroen DS. It looks fantastic. Bow down
It's criminal that we never got that here. Evil or Very Mad

How is it to drive and live with? Reliability? Driving pleasure? Old enough to meet the 15 year rule? Are they that expensive now?

How are they to drive?

They're not that quick, even the 2.7 twin turbo Diesel isn't *that* quick. Once moving it's no slouch but it won't go winning any awards. They're much more of a gentlemen's cruiser. On the motorway with the hydraulic suspension they are really great cars. Comfortable, quiet, refined and every gadget you can think of, including a heads up display which back in 2005 when these were released was a fairly rare thing to find on a car! (It's only taken LR 10 years to catch up!!)

Reliability?

They're no worse then the Range Rover to be honest. They're quite rare so parts aren't that easy to come by but most things aren't that expensive to buy. Bumpers are £1500 each though, so don't prang it!

I bought this one because it was in the right place, at the right time at the right price. This one was much cheaper then I've seen one before. I paid less then £2k for this one.

This one is a 2.2 HDi Lignage model which was middle spec, it has full leather (optional, Lignage usually got half leather), the only thing it's missing from the Exclusive is the full colour sat nav and the only other option it's missing is the rear lounge pack which adds the reclining rear seats.

The 2.2's have a much simpler suspension setup which is softer but rolls more in corners. The V6's had a variable damping system called AMVAR which cuts the roll down a lot but it does firm it all up a bit.

The 2.2 also has a fixed spoiler on the boot lid whereas the V6's all had a speed sensing spoiler, they raise slightly at 45mph and then fully extend at 80mph. (Pictures showing closed and extended below).

Once it's been detailed I'll post some more pictures of it Thumbs Up

This one is Storm Grey which is almost black. My old one was a 2.7 twin turbo Diesel Exclusive which had everything on it. It was a £38k car new, I bought it 2.5 years old with 24k miles on the clock and paid £13k for it. That one had every option you could spec on it.

Depending on how I get on with this 2.2 I might advertise it for sale and buy another 2.7 as the V6 is so much smoother then the 4 pot.

In the meantime, here's a few pictures of my old one:

2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Stornoway Grey

I like that, was parked next to a french couple on a camp site in the Dordogne and got talking about cars. I had my XC90 at the time and he was thinking of having an xc90 or xc70, but he was concerned it would be a bit sluggish compared to the C6..and he was right, it would be !!

When he took me out for a drive in it I was really surprised. I thought it was very quick tbh. And this guy had moved from a 530d to the Citroen Is this where I put the car details and a bit about myself ?........

Thanks, dhallworth.

Info much appreciated. Very Happy

Enjoy it.

Likelihood of a test drive around here is, unfortunately, infinitesimally low. Big Cry

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Zermatt Silver

Love the C6, insanely cheap for what you get, definitely a strong contender for replacing my wife's BMW 320d

However, the most amazing aspect of this thread is that Will (Kingpleb) hasn't yet posted expousing his love for all things Citroen!! He must be skiing or pulling people out of snow or something..... 2007 Zermatt Silver TDV8 Vogue SE - now sold but was a great car!
