Hi Gang,

I got in my car (which started fine) at the station car park tonight but had the message "Gearbox Fault" pop up on the dash. It went into gear fine and I drove away. Was talking (on hands free) to someone at work on my 10 minute journey home so pulled over near home to finish the conversation and put the car in park.

The message appeared again and I could not get it out of P.

After some swearing and head scratching, I got out, locked the car, unlocked it and started her up again.

No message, went into gear fine and I finished the journey with no issues.

Does this sound like impending Battery Failure do you think..??

I had an issue the car other morning where good old FBH didn't finish it's cycle and car was cold (possibly shut off due to battery..?). I also drive 130 miles round trip a day to work and back so it should be charged. I'm beginning to think I have an alternator issue with the bad whine (rev related) I have but am assured it's more likely power steering pump as it;s on the right hand side (from the front) as you look at it. Ash
