United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Autobiography Black TDV8 Barolo Black

I have a 2011 AB Black and about 1 year ago the same happened to mine, I know what caused it I think, I was at a petrol station and I went to start the car and just as I hit the button with the brake pedal pressed I released the brake pedal and the starter clicked but did not start the car, the reason I released the pedal I just though "oh no I forgot to get ciggys in the shop" so I went back in bought the ciggys came out went to start normally and it did the flashing thing, turned off and back on and it was normal, no fault codes when I plugged it in. I have done the same a couple of times and it has give me a red fault code saying gearbox error but it clears when you switch off and start so it looks like one of them "Features" you have to get used too Embarassed I do find the gearbox a little slack though when you have been traveling at hi speed on the motorway for a few hours then get stuck in stop start traffic, it can feel like an old Disco with worn shafts as you power on and off lots of slack in the transmission but in general it is pretty good.

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Baltic Blue

Gents, many thanks.

I'm hoping its the 'user error' described by discowill and ebajema, anything else I would have expected an error code.

I'll see how it goes and look at the battery next if it happens again. Currently (pun intended) all else seems well so hoping the batt is ok and it's just me.

I'm comforted by RRphils info from the workshop manual as this tends to support the 'user error'.

Once again thanks, it never ceases to amaze me the level of knowledge and support this forum offers.
